Choco –Vanilla  or Marble cake

This Moist and tender marble  cake is a good combination of vanilla and chocolate cake swirled together. This great cake is perfect with a cup of coffee or tea and you can have it just any time of the day. An easy cake which you will end up making often.

Total : 1 Hr
Prep : 20 Min

Ingredients :

  • 2 Cups all purpose flour
  • 2 Teaspoon baking Powder
  • ½ Teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Cup White Sugar granulated
  • ½ Cup butter (Softened) or Canola oil
  • 2 Eggs at room temp
  • 1 Tablespoon good vanilla extract
  • 1 Cup milk at  room temperature
  • 2 Tablespoon good quality unsweetened cocoa powder

Method

1     Preheat oven to 350 degrees/ F 170 deg. Grease and flour a 9 inch round or square pan. For this recipe I have used butter cup cake pan for six. if you don’t have same, it can also be made in any round or square pan.

2    In a large bowl sift together dry ingredients flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Set aside.

3    Use electric beater to mix butter and eggs in a mixing bowl till the mixture looks pale and fluffy. Now mix vanilla and milk into mixing bowl. To this add dry ingredients beat slowly to moisten and until smooth for 2 min. Reserve ¾ cup batter and keep aside remaining batter.

4    Stir cocoa into ¾ cup reserved batter and mix until smooth.

For the flower butter cup  cake , I have used butter cup pan 6 cups / 1.4 litr each butter cup is 3 ½ inch. Same cake can be made in any round or square cake tin.

How to Arrange in butter cup

Drop by spoonfuls first white batter on the left side and  right side and then cocoa  batter in the middle . Using a knife  swirl the cocoa batter into the white batter to incorporate it in a  marble effect.

For Round  cake tin , drop by spoonful first white batter and then alternating  spoonful of each and swirl the cocoa batter into white batter to give marble effect.
Bake in a preheated oven for 20 min for butter cups and 30 to 35min for round tin  until an inserted knife comes  out clean.  Cool for 10 minutes in a pan.   Slice and serve.

Butter cup can be served with  vanilla  cream or whipped cream with toasted walnuts and topped with seasonal  fruit of your choice.
